Why Driftwood How it works Pricing Stories FAQ
Hardcover story books, from your camera roll

Your trip deserves better than a scroll.

Driftwood reads the 2,000 photos from your last trip, finds the 80 that actually tell the story, lays them out like a photo editor would, and prints a linen-bound hardcover that lands on your doorstep in under two weeks.

Why Driftwood

Editing is the hard part. We do the editing.

Most photo books never get made because nobody wants to pick 80 pictures out of 2,000. Driftwood does the choosing, the sequencing and the layout, then hands you the pen for the final say.

Curation that thinks like an editor

Our model scores every frame for light, faces, sharpness and moment, dumps the twelve near-identical shots of the same sunset, and keeps the one where your friend is mid-laugh. It groups by day, place and mood, so the book reads as a journey rather than a dump.

Layouts with breathing room

Full-bleed spreads for the big vistas, quiet single frames for the small moments. Templates were designed by book designers, not by a grid generator.

Captions in your voice

Driftwood drafts short, plain captions from location, time and what it sees. Tap any one to rewrite it. Or leave the pages wordless. Both look right.

Bound to last

Linen or cloth hardcover, 170gsm matte archival paper, lay-flat binding, foil-stamped title. The kind of book that ends up on a coffee table, not in a drawer.

Private by design

Photos are processed on encrypted servers and deleted 30 days after your book ships. Nothing is used for training. Your trip is yours.

Maps and margins

Each chapter opens with a hand-drawn style route map built from your photo locations. Optional, and quietly lovely.

Stories

The books people actually open again.

I'd been meaning to make a book of our Japan trip for three years. Driftwood did it in an afternoon, and it chose photos I'd forgotten I'd taken. My mum cried at the ramen page.

The route map alone was worth it. Twelve countries, one line drawn across the endpapers. I edited maybe six captions. Everything else was already right.

Honestly expected a flimsy thing. It's heavy, the linen is lovely, and it lies flat. Ordered a second one as a gift for my sister the same week.

Questions

Things people ask before they order.

Still unsure? Write to hello@driftwood.co and a human answers within a day.

Sometimes, and that's what the preview is for. The first draft gets about 90% of choices right in our testing. Every spread lets you swap in any photo from your upload, and you see the full book before paying. Nothing prints without your approval.

As many as you have. More is better: the model needs the near-duplicates to pick the best frame in a burst. A typical Journey book is drawn from 1,500 to 4,000 photos. Upload runs in the background and pauses on mobile data if you ask it to.

Yes. Invite a travel partner by link and their upload merges into the same book. Timestamps and locations are aligned automatically, so the day you split up still reads as one day.

They're stored encrypted while your book is in progress and deleted 30 days after it ships, unless you keep the project open for a reprint. We never use your photos to train models or show them to anyone. You can delete everything instantly from settings.

Printing takes 48 hours after approval. Shipping is 3 to 7 days to North America and Europe, up to 12 elsewhere. Our average door-to-door time is nine days. Every order is tracked and shipping is included in the price.

Send us a photo and we reprint at no charge, or refund in full. No forms, no return shipping. It happens rarely, and when it does we'd rather fix it than argue.
